Over the years, the Mining Works for Canada Mine Tour program has enabled Members of Parliament and senior federal government policymakers to witness first-hand the state-of-the-art operations of the Canadian mining sector. Public officials see and experience the above and below ground workings of Canadas most important natural resources sectors. If you are a Member of Parliament or a federal government policymaker and are interested in participating in future mine tours, please feel free to email us at miningworks@mining.ca
I had the pleasure of participating in two mine tours in 2004 and found both to be nothing less than exciting. Visiting the active Louvicourt mine in Quebec offered a first hand opportunity to see environmental practices in operation, said Bill Borland, Co Chair of the NRTEE Task Force on the Boreal Forest program. My visit to the reclaimed East Kemptville mine in Nova Scotia showed that environmental concerns continue long after production is done.
