Aboriginal – Mining Industry Round Table Event

The Aboriginal – Mining Industry Round Table took place in Edmonton, on March 16-17th, 2004. The event, a partnership between the Mining Association of Canada (MAC), the Canadian Aboriginal Minerals Association (CAMA) and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), involved many mining industry participants, Aboriginal representatives and federal/provincial governments and provided a forum to share experiences, best practices and lessons learned and to identify future goals.

The event also provided a venue to announce the development of an Aboriginal Tool Kit by the Honourable Anne McLellan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, and the Honourable R. John Efford, Minister of Natural Resources Canada. NRCan, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC), MAC and the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) are co-funding the tool kit, while CAMA is developing it.
